Evaluation

Target market:
Although I feel that I used my Tron Legacy image research to base the overall design if my speaker on, I feel that it would be difficult to directly recognise and link it to the Tron Legacy theme with out a logo or lettering from Tron Legacy.
Product requirements:
Considering the speaker quality it does produce reasonable sound quality.  Access to the battery compartment is very user friendly with one side of the speaker lifting off, I have also adapted the provided circuit to have a switch, maximising the battery life. Initially I intended to design and produce internal components to house the circuit board and the battery, due to a number of reasons these unfortunately did not get produced.
Size/ Weight/ Durability:
As a working prototype the speaker housing is sturdy enough to withstand minor impacts. Size is something, which would be reduced as part of prototype development, although not a major issue.
 Aesthetic:
My prototype colour scheme and materials work well in reflecting the Tron Legacy style and theme. Due to timescale the prototype is not finished to a standard, which I am totally happy with.
Manufacturing process:
The prototype was designed through CAD using a combination of pre engineer and 2d design. Manufacturing through CAM used a combination of a laser cutter and the 3d router.
I initially struggled with early design ideas as I did not have a full understanding of the constraints of the 3D router, as I became aware of the problems that I would encountered as I developed my designs into prototypes I decided to rethink my initial ideas and restarted designing.
If I had been aware initially of these problems and had also managed my time better through my block placements I feel that I could have produced a much higher standard of work for the project.
Though I feel I now a basic understanding of the CAD/CAM software introduced through the project I am fully aware that I still have a lot to learn to have the confidence and skills to independently embark on the design and manufacture of a product.
Overall after completing this project I feel that I am now more aware of the possibilities of producing products through the use of CAD/CAM although my basic skills on pro Engineer need to be enhanced.
